Lead Technical Safety Engineer for Brownfield Engineering & Modifications Contract covering12 onshore and offshore North Sea assets.

Supervision of Technical Safety engineering staff under their control, & responsibility for the technical quality of work produced by them.Be conversant and knowledgeable with respect to current and new legislation and standards e.g., BS, API and Client codes and standards, DCR, PFEER, SCR and HS&E Regulations and EU Directives
Be aware and understand the business drivers within the Client organisation and how these can be influenced by innovated designs and minimum cost solutions
Production of cost effective designs that are fit for purpose and safe.
Compliance with engineering procedures and industry, international and Client Codes and standards.
Responsible for assessing and identifying deviations to standards, that will benefit Client, and gaining acceptance of Client Technical Authorities
Responsible for input to project plans and schedules, achievement of agreed schedule, during the course of any project or study or early identification of project areas of concern with necessary corrective action identified
Progress of the works under their control and the achievement of targets. Responsible for reporting progress as per company systems and procedures
Identification of increase or reduction in scope, raising the necessary support documents for Project Control Purposes
Review and approve the work output of discipline assigned staff.
Participate as necessary in discussions with Client and visit jobsites when necessary
Responsible to ensuring that Client Technical Safety Specifications and/or Standards are fully adhered to, and adopted in the design if applicable.
Responsible for identifying all project technical safety risks and ensuring they are reduced to a level that is as low as is reasonably practicable (ALARP).
Responsible for all aspects of Fire & Gas system detector layout, number of and location of safety alarms, manually activated call points, ESD stations etc. As well as the compilation/reviewing of all Hazardous Area Schedules and Plans.
Responsible for identifying the need for, and specification of Passive Fire Protection.
Responsible for all communication / liaison with the clients and Independent Verifications Bodies (IVB) regarding Technical Safety Concerns.

Education & Qualifications:
Minimum BSc/ BEng in Engineering discipline.
Preferably Post Graduate Safety related qualification.
Preferably chartered (CEng or equivalent) and member of relevant professional institution


Experience:
Significant safety design experience.
Preferably gained in the UK or Norwegian offshore oil & gas industries for North Sea Projects or in the same location of the project/contract. 
Experience in other related industries including petrochemical or nuclear will also be considered.
