Proposing, pre-qualifying and recommending suitable suppliers for bid lists
Determine sources of supply, issue requests for quotations, evaluate them and decide on the most suitable offer
Negotiating improved prices, discounts and terms and conditions to achieve the best commercial and contractual terms
Place good quality Purchase Orders and expedite delivery
Attend internal client meetings to ensure good procurement to meet operational requirements
Visit and audit suppliers to consider potential improvements to the services provided
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
HND or Degree level education. Alternatively working towards Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) professional diploma
Practical experience in a purchasing environment
Understanding of the supply chain process including the legal and contractual requirements
Knowledge of industry equipment, services and suppliers
Excellent communication skills with ability to interpret technical specifications
